Local residents invited to Fareham emergency day

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have invited all local residents to attend their annual “999 day” event to be held later this summer as it looks to improve on their past successes; the occasion providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about each of the emergency services and further celebrate the different jobs in protecting our local communities.

Similar to previous years, the 2025 edition is set to be held within the “pedestrianised areas” of West Street on June 21 (Saturday) from 10am to 4pm. Staff from Hampshire Constabulary and the Royal National Lifeboat institutions could be attending, whilst the firefighting services, ambulance services, coastguards and search / rescue are likely to participate.

A variety of retired emergency vehicles are due to be displayed throughout the event and can be explored by visitors of all ages, whilst they are able to speak to representatives about their jobs and equipments used. Children will be able to enjoy themed activities under the podium at Wonder Tots whilst the pop-up beach will open as usual from 9am-5.30pm.

Further information about the event may be seen by clicking www.fareham.gov.uk/999 and organisers are encouraging those with emergency vehicles to contact their team if they want to get involved for the day. This can be done by either calling 01329236100 or sending a short email via leisure@fareham.gov.uk to speak to somebody ‘as soon as possible’.
