Residents invited to attend Gosport Comic Con event

By Connor Steel

GOSPORT RESIDENTS have all been invited to attend an unique “Comic Con” event that is scheduled to be held next month with the organiser recently announcing further details, including a number of celebrities from the world of ‘British television’ as this occasion looks set to build on a ‘smaller version’ seen in Lee-on-the-Solent back in September 2023.

The event is scheduled to take place within the members bar of Thorngate Halls on April 14 (Sunday); running between 11am to 5pm. This has been organised by the owner of Vanguard Comics, Mark Bennett, and he has already started to pull out the tricks in securing a range of large-profile appearances from television stars throughout a six hour spectacle.

Colin Baker will be one of the names and is better known for playing the Sixth Incarnation of Doctor Who for two years; where he is due to reunite with his female companion Nicola Bryant. Raji James has also confirmed an appearance for the Comic Con event having previously starred in huge soap programmes such as EastEnders, The Bill and Hollyoaks.

Visitors can speak to these celebrities throughout the event and others are set to be announced, but the organiser isn’t to be responsible if they can’t attend nearer the time or for any changes. A wide mixture of cosplay, comics and gaming activities will feature, whilst people are urged to dress up as their popular character and enjoy being geeky throughout.

Tickets will cost £10 for an adult and £6 per child, whilst there is an option to buy a family ticket for £25 (2 x adults + 2 x children). These can be brought online via the weblink and parking is further available on-site for a ‘small additional fee’ upon their arrival; with buses such as the X5, 9 and E2 stopping close by at regular intervals outside the event location.
