Residents invited to classic silent movie showing
GOSPORT RESIDENTS have been invited to participate in a night of entertainment that will feature the historic but popular organ at Thorngate Hall later this month; which will see Andy Quin at the console as part of a silent movie showing.
This latest event will take place at Thorngate Halls on November 12 (Thursday) and will showcase The Phantom of the Opera at 7:30pm. This is not to be confused with the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical but instead will be the 1925 silent classic starring Lon Chaney.
Although the Halloween season may be over there is still time for something scary. Guests will see the movie as it was presented to the audience over one hundred years ago, whilst there will live music on a cinema organ from the same era.
Organisers have stated their delight that Andy Quin will be at the console again, where he will be improvising a soundtrack in real time. He has given the venue a number of “splendid performances” in the past and reviews do suggest that it is an evening that shouldn’t be missed.
Tickets are available on the door for a cost of £12 per person and doors open at 7pm for a start time of 7:30pm, whilst advance tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite by searching The Ritz at St Vincent. There is free parking at the venue after 7pm for visitors and readers can see this poster for more information.
