Witnesses sought after man dies in Fareham collision

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigation following a ‘road traffic incident’ that occurred within the Fareham area during the afternoon of Boxing Day, which tragically saw a ninety-year-old man suffer fatal injuries as a result of a severe collision.

Emergency services were called to Lockswood Road in Park Gate at approximately 4pm on December 26 (Tuesday) to reports of a single vehicle collision in this area, which involved a blue Peugeot 208. The male driver was ninety years in age and was further taken to hospital but he passed away despite the best effort of medical workers shortly afterwards.

His family have since been informed and are currently receiving support from specialist officers, whilst investigators are continuing to establish the full circumstances that caused this collision. As part of their enquires the ‘force’ have entitled this case as ‘Operation Senepol’ and have asked members of the public for all information that could help them further.

Investigators want to hear from anyone who was in the surrounding areas of Lockswood Road and may have seen this incident, as well as the build-up or aftermath. This can include those who were driving or walking nearby and may have dash-cam footage of the Peugeot itself, as well as anybody living close to this scene who have doorbell / CCTV videos.

Investigators are asking for people with any ‘fresh’ information to contact police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44230525856. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.

Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
