Witnesses sought following Fareham traffic incident

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an ‘urgent’ appeal for witnesses and information to assist their ongoing investigations following a ‘fail to stop’ traffic incident in Fareham that occurred earlier this month; which saw an elderly male sustain minor injuries after being hit by an unidentified vehicle that did not stop at the scene.

An online press statement states that officers were called at approximately 12:50pm on August 2 to a report of the road traffic incident on Broadcut involving a pedestrian and car. This pedestrian was a man aged in his nineties and suffered minor injuries, whilst no other information or exact details is available. This incident is being described as a ‘fail to stop’.

Police are keen to identify both this vehicle and driver involved ‘as soon as possible’, with the investigators now looking to speak with anyone who witnessed this collision or moments leading up to the impact. This includes people who were walking or driving in the surrounding areas, along with those who may have dash-cam / related video to help the police.

Detectives are asking for anybody with information or can help to contact police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44250346780. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
