Man dies after Fareham dog attack

HAMPSHIRE POLICE have confirmed investigations are ongoing after a thirty-four year old man was killed in a dog attack last week, which occurred at a busy Fareham park last Wednesday morning (August 10) and has brought tributes from members across the local community reeling in the aftermath of this tragic event.

Officers and ambulance workers were called to the recreation ground located on Hillson Drive, near to Henry Cort Community College, at approximately 10:25am. But despite a fast response and determined efforts by emergency services, the victim was sadly pronounced to have passed away at the scene shortly after arrival.

A twenty-year old man from Fareham was soon arrested on suspicion of being the owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. He has since been released from custody without charge but remains under investigation while officers continue enquires such as talking to witnesses.

Although further details have been released by sources such as the Portsmouth News including the tributes to the victim, Hampshire Police haven’t yet confirmed any of this information and no appeal for information has been released at the time of writing. However the force did say the dog was removed from the scene.
