Dinenage seeks nominations for 2024 taxi awards
By Linden Grigg
GOSPORT MP, Dame Caroline Dinenage, has asked for nominations across the constituency in the fifth instalment of the Parliamentary Taxi & Private Hire Awards; which is due to take place later this summer in Westminster.
The awards were created in 2020 and are an opportunity to annually celebrate the wonderful things that taxi / PHV drivers do within their communities. Drivers are recognised for going “above and beyond” with previous winners being praised for multiple reasons; including charity work, fundraising, helping customers with disabilities, speaking vocally for the trade, and promoting sustainability.
Gosport had multiple nominations for this award in 2023 and the winner was confirmed as Andrew Orr for the second successive year. The owner of ‘Taxi Lee-on-the-Solent’ was recognised for his flexibility, friendly service, and value-for-money for all customers throughout the borough.
Ms Dinenage said in a press release on Tuesday afternoon (May 14): “This is a great opportunity to recognise the service that our local taxi drivers provide and the dedication they show to their customers. These awards are your chance to nominate a driver who you feel has really gone the ‘extra mile’ to offer value or service.”
Nominations forms are available to download here using Microsoft Word and must be completed by Gosport residents before being emailed to caroline.dinenage.mp@parliament.uk by May 23 (Thursday). The 2024 awards will then take place at a reception that will be held on July 2 (Tuesday) in the Terrance Pavilion; an event venue located at the House of Commons.
