Fareham Shopping Centre marks festive gift success

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM SHOPPING CENTRE have thanked visitors and local businesses for their amazing support as they marked another successful festive campaign; which saw a total of three hundred individual presents distributed to charities and organisations as part of a ‘Give a Gift, Santa for a Senior’ initiative to ensure that elderly people didn’t miss out on gifts.

The kind-hearted campaign was conducted in partnerships with Home Instead Fareham / The Crafty Makery as donors were encouraged to consider purchasing their presents from the centre retailers. It ran from November 20 to December 20, with the purpose being to allow people to all share the Christmas spirit and gift to somebody who might not get one.

Toiletries, warm clothing, nostalgia books and blankets were given into a ‘gift box’ within this facility before being sorted out. They were provided to Community First Festive Lunch, Methodist Housing Associations Christmas Lunch, Gosport War Memorial Hospital (Wards), Clarence Unit, Hill Park Social Club Christmas Lunch, and Fareham Women’s Refuge.

Centre Manager Mike Taylor stated his pleasure at this campaign’s success and thanked everybody who kindly gave a gift for others at this potentially difficult time, stating that: “This campaign was a huge success and will have brightened Christmas for many elderly people this year. Thank you to everyone who generously donated gifts for a worthy cause.”
