Reminder sent out as NHS industrial action continues

By Michelle Monaghan

The Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust has sent another reminder on their Facebook page about the planned industrial action on Thursday, 19 January. It will continue from Wednesday, 18 January. So the Trust is reminding people to seek emergency help only if their situation requires urgent care or is life-threatening.

Many appointments have also been affected and are being changed to a later date or cancelled altogether. It has left people worried and confused as to what they should do. One man lucky enough to have their appointment unaffected commented on what he saw at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site in Cosham. He said: “Many people arrived at the hospital only to find their appointments had been cancelled.”

According to NHS 111 online there is another planned strike on Monday, 23 January, which will be the Ambulance Workers who already went on strike on 11 January. If people are unsure about what to do regarding a medical problem, they should check out NHS 111 Online or call 111 to speak to someone about their concerns.

However, if you are seriously ill/injured or your life is at risk, please call 999 immediately!
