Rotarians offering grants to mark Coronation

By Dave King

ARE you a cause in the Gosport area looking for some money to support a community project? Then Gosport Rotary Club could be able to help with the Coronation Community Chest.

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, Gosport Rotary Club is offering small charities and ‘not for profit’ community groups whose work is benefiting the Gosport area the chance to bid for some extra cash to assist their endeavours.

It could be materials to support a building or environmental project, equipment to assist a group activity, or cash to help fund a trip of a regular event. We’re reaching out to Gosport causes young and old, to groups across the area to whom a little extra cash could make a big difference to their lives, and the lives of others.

There will be a maximum of 20 Coronation Community Chest grants available, between £100 and £5,000 in value.

Bidders will be expected to show how the use of the grants will benefit local people and must give a brief outline of their project in an application form.

In addition, if they are short-listed, they will be expected to address a panel of Rotarians at a meeting prior to May 6th at which the successful bidders will have their grant confirmed. We’re planning a special Coronation Community Chest networking event on Saturday, April 22,  at 2pm in the Brodrick Hall, Clay Hall Road, Gosport.

If you think your group might fit the bill, then get in touch. You must firstly register your interest by requesting an application form from the Secretary at Gosport Rotary Club by email at: sec.gosportrotary@gmail.com.

Please complete and return the application form by April 1 – we look forward to hearing from you!
