St Vincent College celebrates A-level success
ST VINCENT College, in Gosport, is celebrating another improvement in its A-level results, with Principal Andy Grant praising the hard work of students.
Mr Grant was delighted that 98 percent of students achieved A-levels at grade A* to E, with 75 percent of all students achieving A* to C grades in three or more subjects and 34 percent achieving A* to B grades.
With the A-level programme growing year on year, the college has seen an increase in pass rates over the last time students sat exams in 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The college saw strong results in creative arts subjects with 60 percent of students achieving A* to B in Art and Design Contextual Studies, 40 percent achieving A* to B in Fine Art and 80 percent achieving A* to B in Photography.
There has also been an increasing profile for its creative arts subjects, with students’ work featuring in the Sixth Form Association’s nationwide art show for the second year in a row. Teachers have encouraged students to produce work that is more typically undergraduate standard in context, synthesis, and application.
As a result, the college has seen a growth in the number of students wanting to study creative arts subjects due to the high quality teaching and learning.
Distinction
Students studying BTEC Vocational Level 3 subjects achieved a 98 percent pass rate, with 63 percent achieving a Distinction* or Distinction. The college will be introducing new T Levels in 2023/24.
Mr Grant said: “Our students have been highly successful in both academic and vocational courses too. St Vincent has the commitment to support students so that they achieve what they want in life, and we are dedicated to ensuring that they do the very best that they can.”
“As always, we are delighted with the performance of all our students and they can be proud of what they have accomplished. Their hard work and motivation ensures that these outcomes are a real credit to them and we wish them every success as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.”
“Well done to them all, it has been a great year and one for us to build on.”
St Vincent is expanding its A-level offer even more for the next academic year and is still accepting applications for the new academic year. Readers can find out more about the college and the courses it offers at stvincent.ac.uk.
