Witnesses sought after Gosport burglary attempt

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigation following an incident in Gosport on Monday afternoon (November 13); which saw an unidentified man attempt to ‘force entry’ into a property after gaining access to a block of flats near the Town Centre.

It was reported to officers that the man entered into the ‘communal area’ of Blake Court (South Street) between 2:50pm and 3:10pm before attempting to force entry into an address. Investigators are now keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the reported incident or recognises the man in the newly released E-fit which can be downloaded here.

He is described as being Indian or Middle Eastern ethnicity and aged in his late thirties / early forties, whilst being of an average build and approximately 5 feet 7/8 inches in height. The male is furthermore said to have worn a dark coloured buttoned shirt and had stubble alongside black hair, which was styled to be shorter on the sides and choppy on the top.

Police believe there was multiple residents in the vicinity of the offence and surrounding area around the time who may have witnessed the incident; as well as before and afterwards. This includes those who were walking and driving in the immediate area; with any useful information and dash cam footage from vehicles all welcomed by investigating officers.

Investigators are asking for anybody with information or footage to contact police by calling the non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44230408466. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
