Witnesses sought after Gosport restaurant break in

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an ‘urgent’ appeal for witnesses and information to help their ongoing investigations following a break-in incident that occurred at a hugely popular restaurant in Lee-on-the-Solent over the weekend; which caused damage at the building and saw important items stolen from the premises.

Officers were called to the Tea Room at 7:09am on Sunday (September 21) following the reports of the break-in, which is believed to have taken place during the early hours of that morning. Glass had been “smashed” within this front door and a till draw was reported missing from the premises alongside a safe, but it is unknown if any money was left inside.

Detectives believe there could be many potential witnesses to this ‘break-in’ given the wider timeframe and have asked people to contact them if they have information / noticed any suspicious activities. This includes neighbours and drivers who could have used the area over last weekend; in particular those who may have CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam video.

Investigators are urging anybody with potential information to contact the police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44250427370. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.

Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
