Fort Nelson look for Santa’s cheeky elves

FORT NELSON have seen an unique set of swatters in the form of ‘Santa’s Cheeky Elves’ this Christmas, requesting the help and support of children to support them in getting back to the North Pole before the big day.
Staff at the Victorian fort discovered the elves when arriving for work last week and have been unable to catch the twelve elves, who are now creating mischief and chaos at key locations around the site over recent days.
The elves sneaking into the fort have been named as Tinsel, Jingle, Pixie, Glitter, Frost, Twinkle, Merry, Sparkle, Buddy, Noel, Candy and Holly, who have been sent by Santa himself on a special and magical festive mission.
Now staff are asking children to help find the elves and fill in special worksheets, which will be handed out to families throughout December in a bid to find out where the elves are hiding. They could be anywhere within the fort.
When found children are asked to note down details of where they saw the elves, but they are being warned not to touch as they will lose their magic and not be able to perform their Christmas duties for Santa with just two weeks left.
The final day to find the troublesome and cheeky elves will be December 23, with the Fort shut between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Staff will use information collected to ensure they all get back to Santa before his journey starts.
Nigel Hosier, General Manager, said: “We would love children to come and help us find the elves hidden around the site so we can round them up safely and send them back to Santa on Christmas Eve.”
Visitors are asked to book their free visit to Fort Nelson, located on Portsdown Hall, by visiting the link. This will allow staff to prepare the special trail worksheets and free pencils needed to conduct the hunt throughout the day.
Fort Nelson’s museum galleries, outdoor space, café and shop will be open daily from 10am to 4pm over this year’s Christmas period except for certain days. The last admission will be at 3pm with no further entrance permitted.
In term times these opening times and days change, with the Fort open between Wednesdays and Sundays instead of daily.
