Bus timetables confirmed for Easter

By Connor Steel

FIRST SOLENT have announced their bus timetables for the upcoming Easter bank holiday weekend across the area including both Gosport and Fareham; with varying levels of services across the two boroughs over each of the four days as residents travel to celebrate the religious holiday.

Tomorrow (Thursday 14) will see buses run as normal under their Monday-Friday timetable, before a Saturday schedule comes into effect for April 15 (Good Friday); meaning that buses will come every 15 minutes on the E1 / E2 alongside regular intervals on routes such as the X5 and 9 / 9A services.

April 16 (Saturday) will furthermore see a Saturday service throughout the day as normal, whilst buses will run their reduced Sunday and Public Holiday service throughout the day Easter Sunday (April 17). This will mean E1 / E2 routes are scheduled to run every twenty minutes alongside hourly for the X5 service and at 30 minute intervals for the 9 / 9A routes, with other routes either running hourly services or none at all.

Easter Monday (April 18) will again see buses run to a Sunday and Public Holiday timetable with regular services across the Gosport and Fareham, before returning to normal Monday-Friday schedules on Tuesday (April 19); which marks the end of the four day Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

First Buses covering Portsmouth and Southampton are expected to follow similar timetables throughout the weekend; whilst Stagecoach South will be running a Sunday service over Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The company have also confirmed that customers can take advantage of a special offer on Family DayRider Tickets until April 24, with more information available here.

The two bus companies  have warned that with reduced services it is likely that more people will be on each bus, with customers being asked to remain patient and considerate of others when on public transport. They are also encouraged to check for any changes to the bus times at short notice, which will be seen on electric information boards and via the First Bus website or Stagecoach online link.
