Gosport initiative to support people of Ukraine

By Jeanette M Perry

CHAT2Us are a friendship and support group and have now been running for almost seven years in Gosport (mainly). We meet weekly at the Henry Cook Centre (Waterside Community Church) on South Street. We are doing what we can to support Ukraine and would like you to support them by coming along to our Open Morning.

A lot of our local residents have been supporting the Ukraine people by having a sort through their possessions to see what they can donate to local charities to send out to Ukraine. Gosport are fortunate to have at least two big charities, Acts of Kindness and Jacobs Well who always do their utmost to help whenever they can when people are at their lowest. Both have been doing stellar work in sorting through the mass of items donated and have actually loaded and driven  several vehicles out to Poland and Romania.

Jacobs Well have another vehicle arriving shortly for them to load up once again and will need help with these travel costs.

What have we been doing to help?

CHAT2Us members have been busy crafting, from bags to tissue covers, knitted gifts and for our open morning we will have some fresh marmalade. Well known local PDSA supporter Jane Long will be bringing her crafts along, too. We will have refreshments made to your requirements. All we are asking is for an entry fee of £2. All proceeds will go to Jacobs Well unless they have finished their journeys in this case it will go to the DEC appeal.
