Picture Special: Open Day at Collingwood

FOR THE 1st time since 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions HMS Collingwood opened its doors to the public on Saturday with everybody invited to attend a day of family themed activities on the Fareham-based training establishment; which marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee alongside the Falklands War 40th anniversary.

Drawing thousands of visitors it was a great atmosphere onsite as funfair rides, classic vehicles and military themed equipment was viewed by people of all ages throughout the day; the highlight being the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) Field Gun Competition, with crews competing from the Armed Services.

And the Globe’s photographer Holly Mason was in attendance, taking some brilliant images from her lengthy explorations at HMS Collingwood alongside action from the annual but highly anticipated field gun contest.
