Police charge man after Blake Court incident

OFFICERS have announced they have charged a man in response to an assault which took place at Blake Court in South Street, Gosport over the weekend.

Police were called at approximately 1:44am on Saturday, February 5, to an incident where a man in his sixty’s sustained an injury to his forehead. This needed medical attention in hospital, although it was deemed to be not life-threatening.

A male was arrested at the scene by officers, who has since been named by police as Michael Christopher Jenkins, aged 31, of Felix Road in Gosport.

Jenkins was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following investigations and was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court for a hearing later today (Monday, February 7)

Police have been quick to reassure residents that this was an isolated incident and there was no immediate risk to the public, but anybody with information on the incident should contact officers immediately.
