Soul diva sets new theatre date for ‘Aretha’ gig

SOUL DIVA Patti Boulaye is set to return to the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth in her show ‘Aretha & Me’ on February 13, an event that has seen sell-outs across London and across the country after a global tour.

The British singer had previously starred at the same traditional venue as Carmen in ‘Carmen Jones’ on the UK tour in 1995 after her four-year triumph in the role at the Old Vic and before the world tour.

In this fascinating show, Patti compares and contrasts her life with that of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, whose celebrated career included sec Top 10 singles and 20 No.1 R&B hits during her 5 decades of recording music.

Patti will be singing some of her favourite Aretha Franklin numbers including Respect, Say A Little Prayer, Chain of Fools and Think and many more with some of her own favourites which are special to her.

The event is set to begin at 7:30pm and last for approximately two hours, with tickets available to buy on the New Theatre website. Prices range between £22.50 and £10 depending on seat choices, although those shown are inclusive of Restoration Levy and Booking Fee.

Readers can read a special feature by Globe correspondent Leslie Mitchell here, which covers how Patti placed in a better African future. They can also read her autobiography entiled ‘The faith of a Child”, published in August 2021, by buying from Amazon here.
