Picture special: Gosport counts Lib Dem victories
ELECTION FEVER reached Gosport Leisure Centre throughout Friday as the town counted ballots from local borough council votes held on Thursday (May 5), with twenty-eight candidates from 14 wards up for grabs due to boundary changes announced by the Electoral Commission back in Autumn last year.
Lasting from 10am to 5pm the count ended with the Liberal Democrats sealing overall control of Gosport Borough Council for the first time since 1997, winning sixteen seats out of the 28 on offer as they overcame the challenges from the Conservatives who saw 10 candidates elected and Labour clinching two.
And the Globe’s photographer Holly Mason was in attendance, taking some brilliant images from inside the counting hall alongside in the media area where the results were individually declared throughout the day. Below you can see a range of these images, whilst Holly’s website can be seen by clicking this link here.
