Picture Special: Gosport Mayor-making ceremony

AFTER their local election successes the Gosport Liberal Democrat party appointed their first and second citizens in a ceremony held at Thorngate Halls this week (May 18), in which Cllr Jamie Hutchison (Hardway) was made Mayor and Cllr Martin Pepper (Peel Common) became Deputy Mayor for the 2022-23 year.

The ceremony also marked the retirement of former Mayor and previous leader of the council Mark Hook following over thirty years of association, whilst Zoe Huggins left the Deputy Mayor role following an alleged ‘Liberal Democrat u-turn” following their election win as they took overall control of Gosport Town Hall.

And the Globe’s photographer Holly Mason was in attendance alongside Editor Robin Young at the event, taking some brilliant images of the ceremony; including pomp, speeches and handovers. Below you can see a range of these images, whilst Holly’s website can be seen by clicking this link here.
