Police launch appeal after Gosport collision

HAMPSHIRE POLICE have launched an urgent appeal for information following a severe road traffic incident in Gosport last week, which left three individuals needing varying levels of medical attention and also caused heavy congestion across surrounding routes as the region continues to experience cold winter temperatures.

Officers were called at approximately 2:15pm on Thursday (December 8) after reports that a red Toyota Yaris and grey Volkswagen Polo had collided on Stokes Bay Road. Fire crews and ambulance members were also in attendance at the scene from Gosport stations; the road being closed briefly to maintain everyone’s safety.

It has been confirmed that three people needed medical attention as a result of the collision, with a woman in her seventies treated at the scene for serious injuries. She was soon taken to hospital by ambulance and no further information on her condition is known at the time of publication on Tuesday afternoon (December 13).

Initial enquires are ongoing into the exact circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred during the busy post-lunchtime period.
