THIS WINTER has seen Wave 105 continue its ‘Cash For Kids Mission Christmas appeal’ and have asked for help from residents over the final couple of weeks before the big day; with over six thousand gifts collected across the Hampshire area for those in poverty or struggling.
However the project has run out of toys and games for nine to twelve year olds; meaning that 17,500 children and teenagers are at risk of going without a present with over 1000 donations needed to reach this massive target by Christmas Eve in just over fourteen days time.
Therefore the mission would like readers’ help and support in boosting this project, hosting a December donation drop event in Southampton this weekend. This will be held between 9am and 1pm on December 11th outside FABB Sofas at Hedge End Retail Park (SO30 4RT), with staff and supports available to take any donations that are offered.
But with a large number of applications from Gosport and Fareham, mission organisers have extended the drop-off points for donations. On Saturday morning there will be points located at B&M Fareham, Morrisons, Queen Parade News and Donnelly & Elliott amongst other places. All these will be social distanced and follow Covid-19 guidelines.
So what can our readers do? They are invited to buy a small gift and drop it off at these locations throughout the morning on Saturday or during the week ending December 20 to be distributed to those in need. Alternatively readers are asked to donate online at www.wave105.com/mission so organisers can buy a present on your behalf.
But what gifts should readers buy? Some ideas include water bottles, sports or exercise equipment, rucksacks, wallets and fleece blankets, but in truth it is up to our readers. More information can be read on the Wave 105 website, whilst regular updates will be provided on radio shows this weekend; alternatively please email or call 01489 481082,
