Council confirms colouring contest entry winners

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have announced that a range of prizes will be awarded to five young winners of their 2023 ‘Summer Colouring Competition’ that concluded earlier this October; the Borough’s Mayor Cllr Fred Birkett having the ‘difficult challenge’ of choosing from over fifty entries by local residents since the contest was first launched in June.

The results were confirmed in a press release on Monday afternoon (October 16) and follows a ten day deliberation on the winners from this competition, which saw the under 11s invited to colour a form. These were available for collection at a mix of Fareham events including their 999 and Bygone activity days as well as being found within the Civic Offices.

Quinton Fok was presented with first place and will now have the honour of participating in the Christmas Lights Switch On event next month (November 18); joining both the Mayor and Father Christmas for the ‘grand finale’ due to begin at 5.30pm. They will receive a Christmas themed goody bag to enjoy this festive period, which will include gifts and treats.

Second place was given to Eden Goss and they will receive four ‘free’ bowling vouchers to enjoy, courtesy of the newly opened Bowl Central Fareham. Meanwhile Diana Galu has won a ‘free’ pass to Top Rock Climbing at Fareham Leisure Centre for coming third, whilst Summer Tidbury will be presented with a ‘free’ family swim voucher after finishing fourth.

The last prize is due to be given to Connie Hayes in 5th place and is a ‘free’ pass to enjoy soft play fun within Fareham Leisure centre; Everyone Active providing three of these five prizes as a key partner with the competition. It looks likely to be replicated next year with further information to be released nearer the time by the Council through this online link.

Full quotes from Cllr Sue Walker can be explored on the Council website along with a selection of images; whilst all of the entries have been thanked for their large efforts in ensuring this ‘2023 competition’ was “as successful as possible”.
