Red Hat Knitters casting off for underwater grotto
THE Diving Museum at Stokes Bay, Gosport, reopened in July and since then the ‘Red Hat Knitters’ have been casting off creatively! The Knitters are named after the red hat originally made famous by oceanographer Jaques Cousteau and hard hat divers in the 1800s.
They meet every Saturday to sit and knit outside the Diving Museum from 11am to 1pm. All knitters are welcome to join them.
Now the group has set up a display especially for younger children at the Diving Museum – a knitted underwater grotto full of knitted sea creatures and looked over by the diver Bob Waters and his girlfriend Pearl. See www.divingmuseum.co.uk.
